About the Trust
The Eric Thompson Trust was established in memory of Eric Thompson, who dedicated his life and work to music and musicians.
For many years Eric Thompson was a senior member of the Arts Council staff; he served on the committees of numerous music organisations, including the Royal Philharmonic Society as Honorary Secretary. One strand of his work which was particularly close to his heart was his support of organ music and his encouragement of young organists - musicians who, unlike other instrumentalists and singers, have few sources of charitable help on which to call when in need.
The Trust, devised by some of Eric Thompson’s many friends in collaboration with the Royal Philharmonic Society, reflects exactly that keen interest. It aims to provide modest grants to help aspiring professional organists.
The Eric Thompson Trust is closely associated with the RPS, but independently administered.
The Eric Thompson Trust is a UK registered charity (No: 1026344)
