Organists
The Eric Thompson Trust was established in memory of Eric Thompson, who dedicated his life and work to music and musicians.
What does the trust offer?
Grants towards further studies; hire of instruments; cost of travel and subsistence for auditions and engagements; other expenses incurred in the pursuit of an organist’s career. Preference will be given to students seeking assistance towards specific projects, rather than continuing academic tuition, e.g. summer schools; special lessons in addition to normal studies; opportunities for playing on historic instruments in the context of further study; practice fees and, in certain instances, the cost of travel for auditions. Grants will normally be limited to a contribution towards such costs.
The Trust also offers The Flentrop Scholarship, which enables a young organist to visit Zaandam in Holland for two weeks for an introduction to the craft of organ building and tuning.
Who is it open to?
Aspiring professional organists.
When is the next closing date?
31 May and 30 November, annually.
