Buying Your Own Instrument
It’s a shocking fact that music students often have no choice but to embark on their professional training without an adequate instrument of their own. The RPS Sir John Barbirolli Memorial Foundation can help. The fund was set up after the death of the renowned conductor and Royal Philharmonic Society Gold Medallist.
What does the fund offer?
The RPS Sir John Barbirolli Memorial Foundation provides funding to young musicians to help purchase instruments for their professional training.
Who is it open to?
Students of UK Music Conservatoires or Colleges of Music. Priority is given to first year students and junior students who will shortly be embarking on full-time study.
How can I apply?
All applicants must be nominated by their conservatoire/ college principal. Application forms will be sent direct to UK music conservatoires and colleges in March.
When Is The Next Closing Date?
31 May, annually.
