What We Do
The Royal Philharmonic Society is working to create a future for music and we welcome members who share our vision. With a unique history of music making stretching back two hundred years we are one of the oldest music societies in the world with direct links to Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Wagner and many of the iconic figures of classical music. Then as now, our ability to discern emerging talent means that countless young musicians, composers and ensembles have been given practical support, encouragement and the vote of confidence to make exceptional music.

RPS Council and Trustees
The RPS is governed by a Board of Trustees, which includes the Chair and honorary officers. The Trustees are assisted by the Council, an advisory body of RPS members who bring a wide range of musical and other professional expertise to the Society.
Nominations for Trustees and for Council membership are considered and voted upon at each Annual General Meeting. Each member of both the Board of Trustees and the Council serves for three years before having to seek re-election.
